Microbead Pollutants
& Environmental Hazards

News reports from CNN News and CBC News have put the spotlight on the trillions of microbeads found polluting our water ways.

Consumers may not be aware that microbeads are used in tooth paste, cosmetics, and many other common household products.

Environmental groups around the globe are pressuring governments to change legislation and ban the use of microbeads.

These microbeads are commonly used by manufacturers in the formulation of industrial hand soaps and personal hygiene products.

Microbeads are said to assist in the removal of dirt and contaminants from the skin. However, no scientific benefits have been measured.

Not only do these microbeads damage our skin, there is evidence that PCB's cling to these microbeads at the bottom of our oceans and rivers, which may be ingested by fish, and potentially enter the food chain.

The U.S. and Canadian governments have taken steps to ban microbeads from products. Many leading industrial supply companies are working toward addressing this issue, and creating conscious consumers. However, it may take years to eliminate the problem.
